There are many train stations in Aomori City, from Asamushi Onsen Station in the East to Namioka Station in the West, but the most central is Aomori Station. Many buses also run from Aomori Station and train and Shinkansen tickets can be bought here.

Aomori is serviced by JR East and Aoimori Railway. JR operate the Ōu Main Line (from Fukushima Station in the South to Aomori Station) and Tsugaru Line (from Aomori Station to Minmaya Station in the West), and Aoimori Railway operate the Aoimori Railway Line (from Metoki Station in the East to Aomori Station).

Whilst in Japanese, two useful sites for checking timetables and planning journeys by train, Shinkansen and air are Yahoo!路線情報 and えきから時刻表.

The network extends as far as Kyushu in the South, and while more expensive than a normal train, the Shinkansen is a speedy yet relaxed way to travel around Japan.
